I know there are alot of people out there who are still doing MDI's and there are alot of people Pumping or Podding....

Would you rather pump or inject your insulin? Why?

Podding...I love the name! :)

I think I'd rather inject my insulin as far as method of delivery. I don't like having this thing attached to me all the time!!! Especially when outfits don't really work (I'm a big fashionista!)

But for control, pumping/podding is definitely better because of the basal insulin. However, the adjustment phase can be quite grueling.

So it's 50/50 for me.

Lol! I asked the question but forgot to answer..hahaha

Thanks...My Pod's name is Polly Pod...lol My 2 year old named it!! She's really involved w/ my Diabetes.

If Omnipod wasn't around I would prob continue to inject. I am not sure if I could deal w/ all of the wires associated w/ a traditional pump.

I am a fashionista also that's anything thing I like about the POD..lol You can't see it...hehehehehe

Really? I ordered the free pod they were sending out and I tried it and it shows through most of my clothes!!!! :( I wear fairly tight jeans and shirts most of the time though. I would LOOOVE the fact that I could wear it easily in a dress though. That's my least favorite thing about the pump is that I can hardly ever find a good dress for it!!!

Polly Pod...very cute. I've yet to name my pump. I'm thrilled that your daughter is so involved too! Awesome! :)

Hi! I've always inject myself cause I don't like the idea of having something attached all the time! For the present I'm happy with my pens! Bye Ale

I would rather use the pump than injecting.

When I was injecting, I would forget to take the shots sometimes. With the pump I have alarms on mine that will go off if I miss a bolus. I have been on the pump for about three months and I love it. (most of the time) I'm not going to lie, there are days that I hate it and want to take it off. And if I'm having one of those days, sometimes I will just take the pump off and just take shots for that day. (My doctor told me that I could take my pump off and every hour give myself my basel amount by injection)

Since getting the pump, my A1c has come down from 8.9 at the begining of May, to I think 6.7 the last time I went to the doctor at the end of June. The pump has made it easier for me to conrol my blood sugars.

One thing that I don't like about the pump is it's very hard to hide. In certain clothes I can hide it better than others. I have just figured out that if I wear my pump on the inside of my pants that you cant see it as much as on the outside. If I wear a dress, then I just put a baby sock over it, and put that bad boy in my bra. I did this at prom, and you couldn't even see it.

So for me I like the pump better. :]

Congrat's on the A1C drop! I agree with you I love the pump! it's taught me how to be creative.

I've been taking MDIs for about a year now. Prior to that it was Metformin. There's been no discussion of the pump with the MD and I don't really have the desire to change as long as I keep good results.

I loved podding. I will continue to use my Omnipod. even if there wasn't an Omnipod, I would probably use a pump over MDI.

Thanks for the insite I have been thinking about the pump . the omine pod sounds to good to be true .
I take a lot of shots a day 5 - 6 - 7 day to stay in control my a1c has went from 8.9 to 6.7 in the last 8 months.
I am worred about the adjustment from shot to pump .

You mentioned working a swing shift...the pump/pod might help you get better control for those shift changes.

Everyone's adjustment is different. For me, it took awhile to get everything settled. Buy the book Pumping Insulin if you decide to get a pump (or before if you want more insight). Now that I'm using the pump, I definitely like the abilities I have with it...like not having to plan days ahead of time everything I'm doing, easier management for when I'm sick or eating abnormally, and so on.

I would much rather pump..by the way what is this Pod pump? I'm on one called Dana Diabecare. Its very small and light but it has really limited my fashion ptions...I went for my friends wedding and I wore a dress and I had to strp the thing on my thigh...I really felt like a secret agent secrectly packing a piece...and I really don't get how am supposed to put it in my bra....what happens when I have to bolus? Have only been on it for a month and am still learning the ropes...am really struggling with where to put it. Any answers? But I wouldn't swop this for injections...
