Hello everyone, I'm Jackie. I'm one of those newly diagnosed young adult cases of Type 2 Diabetes that you hear the swift mention of at the end of every type 2 summary. :(

It's difficult for me, not being able to identify with most diabetics around my age. While I can sympathize with the need for daily bloodsugar testing, diet changes, exercise, and fighting down my A1c, I've never had to give myself an insulin injection or face a severe low blood sugar like most type 1s. That time may come, but as of now I'm lucky to be controling my blood sugar with diet and metformin, and hopefully diet alone at some point in the future.

This community, being a global community, is of particular interest to me because of my love of other cultures and hopes of traveling the world, even with my Diabetes.

Welcome to the club!

There are several type 2's around here, although the younger type 2's are fewer and farther between. Hopefully we can keep growing and increase those numbers!

We have some groups around the globe that meet on a regular basis, we also do chats with members every now and then, and we're looking to expand our efforts currently with some new ideas!

Hey there! Welcome to this side of the fence...lol! I'm from Nairobi Kenya and I'm a type 1..been for nearly a decade now (jeez has it been that long? My how time flies!) Anyway I love this echoes thing coz it makes me feel good because regardless of where we all are in the world we actually are more alike than different. Especially with diabetes we have more or less the same crap that we all go through, regardless of whether you live in the US or here in Africa.
