Echoes

A Global Diabetes Community

Thanks for joining! I'm Lindsey, one of the creators for the site.

I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was 4 years old. I went on the pump last year and sometimes love it and sometimes hate it.

I blog for dlife.com which has been absolutely amazing.

My dad was diagnosed with type 1 last year, which has been pretty hard. It was difficult realizing how real this disease can be, how the genetics might play out and the differences in how we manage/the results we get. His A1c is lower than mine, which is awesome...but very frustrating at times! Only because I've worked so hard for 15 years to get my numbers right, and still have trouble.

I'm extremely excited about starting this up and going unimaginable places with the idea.

Howdy!

A type 2 here. Diagnosed July 19, 2007, initially put on humalog mix 75/25, one shot a day. About 4 months ago was able to go to Metformin Extended Release 2 500 mg tablets per day. I had a grandmother that was diabetic, my mother is diabetic (both type 2 as well). Married with a 23 year old son. Own my own accounting office and am a Southern Baptist Minister.

Hey! I'm Lauren, I've actually been a member for a while now but never did an intro. Anyway, I'm 25 years old, been type 1 diabetic since I was 7. I was on shots up until December 2005 when I got a Cozmo pump, which I love.I've been married for 3 years and I have two kids, Benjamin (2) and Lucy (8 weeks) and the best control I've ever had was when i was pregnant with them. Having someone else being effected by your diabetes changes a lot! I got the pump when I first got pregnant with Benny too and its made all the difference. Right now I'm a stay at home mom. I'm also a dancer (ballet and tap) and I play the flute with a local community band.

Wow a dancer and a flutist! That's awesome! I'm definitely coming to you with ALL my questions whenever I plan to get pregnant (still have a while, but I'm an obsessive planner).

Pumping is sooo much easier!!! I hated it at first (I'm on the minimed 522) but now I love the flexibility. I'm a junior in college (in TEXAS!) so my schedule is constantly changing! It's so exciting to see "normal" numbers come up more often than not.

Hi! My name is Megan and I am a type one- I was diagnosed about 5 years ago when I was a junior in high school (fun stuff). But am doing amazingly well and am about to graduate college! I reserach diabetes constantly and would love to hear what other people have to say to bounce some ideas off people! The key to my diabetes in definatley rountine! It is hard to get into a rountine in college, but if it can be done- your A1C def. reflects it!

Hope to talk to you all soon!
Megan

Welcome! Congrats on graduating college! I have 1 more year and I can't wait! Well, I can...but it's still exciting! College and diabetes is definitely hard to manage with the varied schedules and social life, but you're right, it can be done!
