Echoes

A Global Diabetes Community

Thanks for joining! I'm Lindsey, one of the creators for the site.

I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was 4 years old. I went on the pump last year and sometimes love it and sometimes hate it.

I blog for dlife.com which has been absolutely amazing.

My dad was diagnosed with type 1 last year, which has been pretty hard. It was difficult realizing how real this disease can be, how the genetics might play out and the differences in how we manage/the results we get. His A1c is lower than mine, which is awesome...but very frustrating at times! Only because I've worked so hard for 15 years to get my numbers right, and still have trouble.

I'm extremely excited about starting this up and going unimaginable places with the idea.

Hey there too. My name is Gathoni Kamau. I live in Nairobi Kenya, am a type 1 diagnosed when I was 18 right after high school. Have been living with it for 9 years. Your site is so great and I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome it is to have other type 1's to talk to and share stuff. Until like last week I had only met 2 type 1 my doctor (who is awesome and cool) and I. I started pumping 1.5 months ago and so far so good. Anyway this idea is awsome and I wish you sucess in it. If you need any presence in the African market am here. I see on the map am already there and that just feels awsome! One whole blimp just for me....WOW!

Too true! Am glad that you can help coz I have decided that information is power and loads of us out here are not starving or derelict and it is also good for me to show that there is more to Africa than poverty and AIDS (no offence). So am a woman on a mission! Hope you are well and I look forward to more.
